This year, China plans to begin operating its first spaceport for commercial spacecraft and conduct a record 100 space launches for the country.

This was reported by CGTN, according to the report of Ukrinform.

China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation CASC, the country’s leading rocket developer and manufacturer, plans to conduct nearly 70 space launches and send more than 290 vehicles into space this year.

In particular, the first flights of the new Long March-12 launch vehicle, two manned missions to launch and return Chinese astronauts to the Tiangong orbital station, and two cargo delivery missions for these crews are planned.

The Long March-12 rocket is 3.8 meters in diameter, has a two-stage configuration and is powered by six liquid oxygen engines. It was designed to carry up to 10 tons of payload into Earth orbit.

The launch of this rocket will take place from the country’s first spaceport for commercial spacecraft, which is being constructed in the city of Wenchang in the southern province of Hainan.

In the first half of this year, China, as part of its lunar program, will launch a relay satellite for communication between the far side of the moon and the Earth “Queqiao-2” (Queqiao-2) and the lunar probe “Chang’e-6” (Chang’e-6) ) to collect samples on the side of its natural satellite that cannot be seen from the planet.

According to Chinese developers, this probe, which will be equipped with scientific instruments from France, Italy, Sweden and the European Space Agency, will be the first device of this type in human history.

CASC’s mission list includes launching satellites jointly developed by China and France to monitor ocean salinity, conduct electromagnetic monitoring and astronomical survey.

This year, CASC plans to continue the development of more than 200 spacecraft, including the next generation of near-Earth manned spacecraft, the next lunar probe Chang’e-7, and the Tianwen-2 probe that will sample asteroids and a geostationary microwave satellite. -to examine, to find.

Last year, China carried out 67 space launches, ranking second after the United States, and broke a record with 221 spacecraft.

As Ukrinform reported, SpaceX launched a new batch of 24 Starlink internet satellites.
