Problems and Windows 11 are two concepts that go hand in hand lately, a reality that is also far from changing with news like today’s, as Microsoft has just confirmed that some users have problems installing the latest security updates available for Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2.

Indeed, to no surprise, Windows 11 is once again causing problems, although fortunately this time it seems that they do not lead to serious errors that would ultimately affect the proper functioning of the computer, since it is limited to an installation error that affects the update marked as KB5034765.

When trying to install this update, some users received an error message that literally said: “Something didn’t go according to plan. You don’t have to worry about undoing the changes. Leave the device on.”. This means that the installation wizard itself will solve the problem. undo everything that has changed in order to install said operating system and ends by saying “We could not install this update, but you can try again (0x800f0922).”

This error message isn’t very helpful, but Microsoft has confirmed that there is a workaround that will allow you to fix this issue and install this update, and it’s pretty easy. We just have to delete hidden directory “C:\$WinREAgent”, without further ado. Once we do that, we can reinstall the Windows 11 update without any problems.

The Redmond giant did not say what exactly causes this failure, but assured that it is working on an update that will put an end to this error, although we do not have an exact release date, so for now we have to wait.. Windows 10 users were not affectedwhich means they can continue to install the latest security updates as usual.

Just a few days ago, Microsoft fixed an issue with Windows 11 that prevented certain apps from uploading, playing, or recording videos using the WC1 codec. The solution came with updates KB5034204 and KB5034765, launched in January and February 2024.
