Gemini increasingly integrated into Android: Assistant can create events in the Calendar app

February was a big month for Google’s virtual assistant. The company launched Gemini (not to be confused with Google’s AI model, also called Gemini), Google Assistant replacementIt has new abilities based on artificial intelligence.

But Gemini still can’t do everything Assistant can do on Android phones, but it’s slowly improving Increasing integration into mobile devices with this operating system and with other Google applications in general. Gemini recently came to the Messages app to help us compose messages and create images. Gemini will now also work with Google Calendar.

Gemini, tell me what meetings and events I have tomorrow

The application, or rather the renewed Google virtual assistant you can now interact with the calendar, just like Assistant can do. This means Gemini can examine the calendar, tell us what events we have planned on the date we specify, and even help us create a new event using our voice (or keyboard).

By now I’ve never asked Gemini “what’s my next calendar event?” If you asked a question like, the app simply responded by saying it didn’t have access to the Google calendar app. “I’m still learning how to do this,” the virtual assistant said, like a student who still has a lot to learn.

But this has changed. By asking Gemini about your next meeting or event on your calendar, It can answer you by showing it on the screen or even say it out loud.Just like Assistant can do.

Gemini You can also create calendar events through voice or text commands. For example, when you tell the virtual assistant to “Create a calendar event for March 10,” the application will open a window where you can add the title, start time and duration to the event. This can be done using your voice or typing.

Of course, for now, this function is reaching some users in some regions first. In our tests, we could not access the function while writing these lines. Google usually releases new features in phases in all regions. In other words, Gemini’s calendar integration will reach more and more users and more countries in the coming days and weeks.

Gemini recently introduced another very useful feature: the ability to create reminders using your voice. Next up will be the calendar, as the new Gemini continues to regain the features it lost in the transition from Assistant to the new virtual assistant.
