Telenet and BASE are launching eSIM for smartphones today. Customers can now easily request an eSIM online.

We had to wait a while, but Telenet and BASE launched eSIM for smartphones today. This is a replacement for the physical SIM card and allows users to add multiple eSIMs on one smartphone. Customers can easily order a new subscription online free of charge, download their eSIM profile and all the necessary software will be installed on their smartphone.

eSIM for smartphones

eSIM is not a completely new phenomenon. In 2020, Telenet became the first Belgian operator to invest in eSIM for smartwatches: the “Telenet One Number”. This allowed customers to share their mobile data, minutes and SMS from their mobile subscription with their smartwatch. Now there is an expansion of this story with eSIM for smartphones for private and SME customers from Telenet and BASE. Medium-sized and large business customers of Telenet Business can expect the rollout in the second half of April 2024.

With the new eSIM for smartphones, customers no longer need a physical SIM card. eSIM accelerates the digitization of Telenet and BASE and ensures a more efficient subscription. This eliminates the need to create and send SIM cards, which only speeds up the process and also benefits the environment.

Buy an eSIM

Customers can order a new subscription online and install the eSIM on their smartphone themselves. For BASE customers, this is quick and easy via the My BASE app. Most smartphones only have one physical SIM slot, so you can only use one SIM card per smartphone. With eSIM, you can now add multiple eSIMs to your smartphone and switch between your home and business numbers with just a few clicks. This eSIM service is completely free for Telenet and BASE customers.
