This Thursday, the Uruguay justice system handed down a sentence of imprisonment for ten years for aggravated murder for the feminicide of a young man who, at the age of 17, killed a young woman of the same age in August 2023.
This has been confirmed EFE sources in the prosecutor’s office who indicated that this first sentence for feminicide of a minor in the history of the South American country.
They also added that imprisonment for up to 10 years is legal maximum for minors old.
In August 2023, the police of the department of Maldonado (southeast Uruguay) began searching for a young woman who was reported missing and whose backpack was found buried on the beach a few hours later.

The teenager was seen on CCTV in the city of Punta del Este in the company of her ex-partner, with whom she went to one of the local beaches, from where the young man later left alone.
According to the local press at the time, the teenager’s ex-boyfriend was questioned at the prosecutor’s office and assured that he had talked to her for two hours and then left the place.
