The new Windows 11 update has not gone unnoticed by anyone after an eye-catching campaign by Microsoft. If you weren’t yet convinced about Windows 11, these new features might raise some doubts. Windows 11 Copilot gets smarter and gets new capabilities and plug-ins. The features will roll out to all Windows 11 users at the end of March.
Anyone who already has Windows 11 on their laptop will soon be able to use Copilot to perform various everyday tasks on the desktop. Microsoft is adding new capabilities that allow Copilot to change more Windows 11 settings for users and plugins for services like OpenTable, Shopify and Kayak. Additionally, Microsoft is rolling out new AI editing integrations in apps like Clipchamp and Photos, in addition to improvements to widgets and the Windows snapping feature.
For example, the Photos app has a new Generative Delete feature that allows you to remove unwanted objects from a photo by simply selecting them. Additionally, the Clipchamp app, which allows you to edit videos, offers the ability to remove awkward silences from a video.
Copilot’s new options enable capabilities such as turning power saving mode on and off, viewing device, system and battery information, launching features such as Narrator or Magnifier, viewing Wi-Fi networks and storage space, or even clearing them your trash.
These new features per se are not very innovative, but show that Copilot can take on many complex tasks on your PC in the future. AI experiments have mostly been done on mobile devices lately, but Microsoft has moved forward with a general PC copilot that can open and edit apps for you, or perhaps even replace them entirely.
