Elon Musk has filed a lawsuit against ChatGPT developer OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman, among others, alleging that they have abandoned the company’s original mission to develop
This was reported by Reuters, Ukrinform reported.
The lawsuit, filed late Thursday in a San Francisco court, states that Altman and OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman initially approached Musk about starting a nonprofit open source company.
Musk’s lawyers said that the company’s current focus on making money, which signed a contract with Microsoft, violated that contract. They added that the company kept the design of GPT-4, its most advanced AI model, “top secret.”
Musk founded OpenAI in 2015 but left the board in 2018 to start his own artificial intelligence company, xAI.
CNN notes that Musk wants a jury trial and that the company, Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman be ordered to return profits they made from the business.
Last year, Altman was fired by former OpenAI management, who said they were trying to protect the company’s mission of developing artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity. A few days later, Altman returned to the company with a new board of directors.
According to Ukrinform, Andriy Karpaty, co-founder of artificial intelligence OpenAI, announced that he is leaving the company.
