The 12 winners of the first hackathon of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine called “Machine Attack” received $ 10 thousand each; The prize fund was provided by D3 Venture Capital Firm and Kiev School of Economics to complete the developments.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Ukrinform reports.
The Ministry of Defense noted that the following actions were also discussed at the awards ceremony, including testing, certification and adoption of their products for the fastest implementation of the winners’ ideas.
The winning teams presented their ideas with improvements in the following areas:
creation of algorithms for accurate recognition and capture of targets for greater damage;
development of advanced navigation systems;
creation of stable and secure communication systems;
development of solutions for high-speed transmission (real-time) of intelligence data;
development of algorithms for coordination of unmanned systems;
Creation of network solutions for integration between different types of unmanned systems.
“Hackathons of the Ministry of Defense will become regular. We have seen the effectiveness of these measures and, most importantly, the demand from the industry. Our task is to provide developers with a clear path from idea to implementation on the battlefield and direct feedback from the military,” concluded Deputy Minister of Defense Kateryna Chernogorenko.
In addition, studies with all participants continue in the digital environment. Every week, online developers have meetings with the military, the end consumers of battlefield innovations. Warriors share their own experiences and observations on the use of innovations on the battlefield.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Ministry of Defense held the first “Attack of the Machines” hackathon, which brought together more than 450 developers, engineers and inventors. Co-organizers of the event are the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Strategic Industries and the Brave1 defense technologies cluster.
