Microsoft Edge, “broken” by the update

Microsoft Edge has been able to for the past few years change the image that many had about Redmond when it comes to web browsers. However, the image precisely harvested for decades by Internet Explorer, a name that still sends chills down the spine of many, and which, with the change to, let’s call it Edge of the first Age (the one that was based on EdgeHTML and Chakra), aimed to keep much longer.

That all changed, as I say, with the abandonment of this approach in which the browser war had to be based on the engines used and consistent and intelligent adoption of Chromium. From that moment on, the confrontations began to be led by the features of the browser and not its underlying technology, and that’s when Microsoft Edge began to grow in both features and utility and, albeit slowly, but it seems more or less constantly, in users, to the point that the latest StatCounter data (December, January and February) makes it the second most used desktop browser after Apple Safari, even with a share of 13%.

Of course, Microsoft is doing things right with Microsoft Edge It doesn’t mean that everything will turn out well.. Sometimes, as happens with other applications and also with Windows, an update that should theoretically be aimed at improving performance and/or adding new features can cause unexpected problems. And that, as we can read in Neowin, is happening this time with the Redmond browser.

Microsoft Edge, "broken" by the update

So as we can read in the mentioned publication, version 1.122.0.2365.63 Microsoft Edge has an issue that prevents web pages that users try to access from loading. The problem occurs on computers that have the latest browser update installed and results in an on-screen message telling the user that the system does not have enough memory to open the page in question.

Tests carried out by the affected users themselves point to possible relationship between the bug and the browser’s advanced security features (careful, don’t confuse this with privacy which is configured from the same Edge configuration section), more specifically by adjusting them to the highest level (strict) as some users claim to have solved the problem by switching to a medium (balanced) configuration, although others were only able to use the browser again after disabling advanced security entirely.
