City health authorities The United States has reduced from five days to one your recommendation from insulation for people who test positive COVID-19 if they already feel better without fever.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended that those who become ill with Covid-19 or another respiratory virus wear masks for five days whenever they leave home.
“Covid-19 continues to pose a serious public health threat, but it no longer represents the emergency it once did, and its effects increasingly resemble those of other respiratory diseases,” the agency said.
CDC Director Mandy Cohen said at a news conference that over the past two years, weekly hospitalizations for Covid-19 have dropped by more than 75% and weekly deaths have dropped by more than 90%.
Previous CDC guidelines recommended that people who become infected with Covid-19 wear a mask for 10 days after the end of their isolation period.
The agency now recommends that those who test positive stay home, keep their vaccinations up to date, practice good hygiene and improve air quality at home.
Isolation can end if after 24 hours the person feels better and their body temperature has returned to normal without taking medication.
The pandemic emerged in the United States in late 2019 and has since been attributed more than 1.2 million deaths among 111.5 million reported cases.
In a statement, the CDC said that rather than offering specific recommendations, it will provide “a unified and practical approach to combating the risks associated with the virus, as well as influenza and respiratory syncytial virus.” (EFE)
