This week, Microsoft started rolling out another feature update for Windows 11 23H2 and Windows 11 22H2. After installing the KB5034848 package, various innovations appear, one of which is support for the USB 4 2.0 standard, which provides data transfer at speeds up to 80 Gbps.
Installing the said package will upgrade the build version of Windows 11 22H2 to 22621.3235 and the build version of Windows 11 23H2 to 22631.32.35. We note that the implementation of support for the USB 4 2.0 standard in Windows 11 will not change much at this stage, due to the lack of hardware solutions that meet the standard on the market. Although the update was made available to Microsoft insider program participants in January, hardware manufacturers have yet to saturate the market with devices that support USB 4 2.0.
First of all, users will need a computer with one of the advanced processors such as the Intel Core 14th generation HX series, which was officially introduced not so long ago. A peripheral device that supports the new standard is also required. The USB 4 2.0 standard itself is a logical continuation of the USB 4 standard, which allows data transfer at speeds of up to 40 Gbit/s, with a data transfer rate of up to 80 Gbit/s.
