Meta will disable Oculus accounts

Users who have not yet transferred their Oculus account data to Meta should hurry to do so. The fact is that on March 29, Meta Platforms will deactivate all Oculus accounts so that their owners will not be able to reactivate purchased applications, purchase new products, use the funds available in the account for payment, etc. will be blocked. This was stated in a letter Meta sent to VR headset owners this week.

Oculus accounts became obsolete in 2020 when the company, then called Facebook, changed the rules for interacting with VR headsets and offered all new users the ability to sign up for Facebook accounts. In 2022, the option to create an alternative Meta account was added for users who do not want to link their Facebook account to the VR headset. The ability to use Oculus accounts to interact with headsets was blocked in January 2023. Now is the last chance for users to transfer their data to a Meta account, as Oculus accounts will be permanently deleted in just a few weeks.

To transfer data, you’ll need to register a Meta account with the email address you used when registering your Oculus account. After that, you will have access to all previously purchased games and applications, as well as other data stored on the old account.
