Apple has no plans for future iPads and Macs

According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman says Apple isn’t planning to hold a traditional event to unveil new iPads and Macs. Instead, he said, Apple plans to announce the products on its website through “a series of online videos and marketing campaigns.”

If this plan is correct, we can expect new products to be announced through press releases on the Apple Newsroom website.

Gurman expects Apple to announce the following products:

  • Two new iPad Pro models with M3 chip and OLED screen
  • New Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro
  • Two new iPad Air models, including the first 12.9-inch model
  • At least one new Apple Pencil
  • New 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air models with M3 chips

The new iPad Pro models are expected to be thinner and are said to have a front-facing horizontal camera like the iPad 10.

March or April are also common months for Apple to release a new iPhone color, as well as new colors for iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands.

As for timing, Gurman said Apple plans to release a “special version” of iOS 17.4 with support for the new hardware at the end of March, leading him to expect devices to “arrive in March or April.” It’s also likely that new iPads and Macs will be pre-installed with special versions of iPadOS 17.4 and macOS 14.4.

supercharged It reported today that Apple is “scheduling briefings with select media” and plans to “update the store” this week, leading to speculation that new product announcements could be imminent. However, the website incorrectly reported that the new iPads would be announced in October 2023, so be skeptical.

iOS 17.4 includes significant changes to the App Store and more in the EU as a result of the Digital Markets Act. Apple must comply with the Digital Markets Act by March 6 to avoid penalties, so iOS 17.4 will likely be released by then. A special edition will arrive later this month.
