We don’t know if it’s a matter of days or weeks, but expect a surprise The Moto Edge 50 Pro should be unveiled sooner rather than later. If we look at its two predecessors, the Edge 40 Pro was unveiled at the beginning of April last year, while the Edge 20 Pro did the same at the end of February 2022, during the MWC edition of that year. Therefore, and as I said, we can count on the fact that the wait will not be too long.
In addition, today we have a new and very clear signal in this sense, which is that Motorola has published a teaser on Weibo, in which it is not so much advanced about its future top of the range, but in which it attracts a metaphor that also uses its collaboration with Formula 1 to tell us that we should expect more than remarkable performance, for which it resorts to images of a car with the brand’s logo.
You will see, yes, the video refers to the Moto X50 Ultraand we must remember that this is the nomenclature of its top range in the local market, China. That means, and to clarify, this Moto X50 Ultra will be known as Moto Edge 50 Pro in the global market and as Moto Edge+ 2024 in North America. Also, there may be some differences in the specifications of the models arriving in different markets, but basically we are talking about the same device.
Thanks to the data that Motorola provides to various regulators, we already know that it will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and that it will have a 4500 milliamp battery with 125W fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. And while the trailer, as I said, doesn’t tell us more about the technical aspects of the device, it does mention in its 24 seconds of duration that (to no one’s surprise) Moto Edge 50 Pro will focus on artificial intelligence. It will be more than interesting to see what proposals he makes in this regard.
Motorola, this time with Lenovo, managed to restore much of its splendor which it enjoyed in its early days before being overtaken by the smartphone revolution at the end of the first decade of this century. After the most tenacious work to consolidate their position in the entry and middle ranges, building a very varied catalog and even foraying into the market of folding machines, renewing the legendary Razr family, they set about jumping into the high range. with Edge Pro, thus covering a whole range of lines on the market.
In a more than reasonable timeframe, this translated into Motorola being able to see its numbers improve more than substantially, to the extent that the Lenovo subsidiary managed to become the fourth smartphone manufacturer by sales in Europe in 2023.
