The GIGABYTE AORUS FO32U2P is the first monitor from the Taiwanese company to use it DisplayPort 2.1. It’s not the only interesting feature, because everything is in 4K at 240 Hz.
DisplayPort 2.1 is the latest version of the most interesting interface that we can use to connect personal computers to screens. If DisplayPort was already better than HDMI in performance, the new version increases the differences and increases the bandwidth above 80 Gb/s. It supports very high refresh rates and opens the door to 16K resolution monitors that do not yet exist in the industry. It is clearly the preferred port for PC use.
The new GIGABYTE monitor supports the UHBR20 DisplayPort 2.1 specification. That is, the most complete version of the standard. But it goes beyond that to include the most advanced interface.
Assemble the panel QD-OLED which combines organic light-emitting diode panels and Quantum Dot (QD) technology, which allows for improved lighting control and provides the advantage of reducing the “burn-in” of OLED panels, maintaining their performance in image quality, contrast or supporting color palettes.
The panel is 10-bit and offers a diagonal 31.5 inches. Its native resolution reaches 4K and the refresh rate rises to 240 Hz, which is the best the industry can offer for this resolution. Its GTG response time is only 0.03ms and it is certified for the high dynamic range standard, DisplayHDR True Black 400.
The connectivity GIGABYTE AORUS FO32U2P is very complete. It includes the aforementioned full-size DisplayPort 2.1 input and another mini DisplayPort with fewer features. It also has two HDMI 2.1 and an additional USB Type-C input that supports DP-Alt mode, in addition to a 65-watt power supply. It has a USB port hub (one upstream and two downstream), as well as a headphone and microphone jack. The manufacturer also equipped the monitor with a pair of 5W speakers.
It has an ergonomic base that allows us to adapt the monitor to our needs tilt, roll, height and pivot settings. Once the configuration is complete, we have support for KVM, daisy-chaining via DP output, picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture support, and gaming features such as reticle, night vision, or black equalizer.
No release date or official price has been announced. It won’t be cheap, but it looks very good, and not just because of the DisplayPort 2.1 debut.
