The Vatican’s Pontifical Academy for Life stated that This cannot be the right to end human life, in response to the French Senate’s decision to include abortion in the Constitution.

“The Pontifical Academy for Life affirms that precisely in the era of universal human rights there can be no ‘right’ to suppress human life,” the statement said.

On February 28, the French Senate approved the inclusion of abortion rights in the Constitution under the same conditions that the National Assembly had decided almost a month earlier, making France the first country to enact the measure.
