I was able to see this in passing at Mobile World Congress, and it’s finally fully official: The Nothing Phone (2a) is here to disrupt the 300-euro mid-range. And it seems to me because The price of the phone indicates enormous potential: I can’t think of better hardware and software for this cost.
While I haven’t been following Nothing since its founders left OnePlus, I’ve already seen from its inception its intent to innovate in a space as unconducive to change as smartphones. Because a phone has very little room to maneuver: almost the entire screen is on the front, the camera lenses are on the back, and the back It usually does not differ except for colors or reflections.. And Nothing Phone (1) came to replace the installed one; with a Nothing Phone (2) that repeats the formula by increasing strength. Now there is a slight change in our strategy.

Authentic mid-range quality at a reasonable price
The hardware of the phone surprised me very much. I did not expect Nothing, a brand that does not have a majority in the market, to create such a balance between interior and exterior; undoubtedly at a competitive price. Based on my colleagues’ first impressions and what I had seen before, The Nothing Phone (2a) is designed to dominate the middle class.
The front part is still well used and does not miss the opportunity to add an excellent panel according to its characteristics: 6.7 inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution promises. 1,300 nits maximum brightness, up to 120 Hz refresh rate and a top hole for a 32-megapixel front camera.
The display aims high, as does the processor chosen for this Nothing Phone (2a): the brand invests in the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro. SoC manufactured in 4nm and tuned by Nothing itself. This is accompanied by up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. The mobile phone does not have a micro SD card expansion feature.
The back of the Nothing Phone (2a) retains a characteristic element of the family: transparent design (still a case) so that the components can be seen and Glyph interface LED lights. These lights are smaller than the lights in their older brothers, but the smaller one still attracts attention with its appearance. You can see from afar that he is a Nothing.
The dual rear camera offers dual sensors with main and wide-angle lenses. Both 50 megapixelsThe primary camera includes mechanical and electronic stabilization (OIS and EIS) and can record video at a maximum of 4K and 30fps. In my experience with the Nothing capture app, the Nothing Phone (2a) won’t fall short in terms of capture possibilities. And it aims for good quality overall results.
As for the rest of the specs, the phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging (it doesn’t even have a fast charging feature). Charger is not included in the box), offers an under-display fingerprint reader, has dual stereo speakers, is partially updated with Android 14 and Nothing OS 2.5, offers three years of Android updates and four years of security patches. It is also splash-proof and IP54 certified.
