A recent study from HP shows that artificial intelligence (AI) can play a crucial role in improving employees’ relationships with their work.

HP has unveiled new findings from its Work Relationship Index, a comprehensive study that examines employees’ relationships with work around the world. The study of more than 15,600 respondents from 12 countries shows that despite the strained relationship with work and rising employee expectations, AI is seen as the key to improving these workplace relationships.

Only 27% of knowledge workers report having a healthy working relationship, while 58% globally report that their expectations of their working relationship have increased over the past three years. In emerging markets, 76% of knowledge workers believe AI will make their work “easier” and “more interesting,” compared to 48% and 44% in developed economies, respectively.

AI as a solution for industrial relations

The study shows that both business leaders and IT decision makers recognize the potential of AI to improve relationships in the workplace. For example, 75% of business leaders believe AI will make their jobs easier, and 55% of knowledge workers believe AI will provide new ways to enjoy their work.

The divide between business leaders, IT decision makers and knowledge workers highlights the need for leaders to effectively communicate the benefits of AI and train employees to integrate it into their work processes.

About 42% of respondents are unsure about using AI in the workplace and 41% feel unable to realize the full potential of AI in their role. With 73% of business leaders and 66% of knowledge workers demanding adequate AI training, there is a clear call for companies to prioritize upskilling initiatives.

HP’s findings highlight the importance of AI in shaping future relationships in the workplace and the role of business leaders in managing this change.
