Citrix bundles its solutions in a comprehensive license package: Citrix Platform. Under the guise of simplicity, the company is trying to offer customers more of its own services.
Citrix uses the same definition of simplicity as Broadcom and the new VMware and bundles almost its entire portfolio into a new Citrix platform license. Under this license you will find all current Citrix products as well as any future innovations and acquisitions that may follow. The license includes:
- App and desktop virtualization: Citrix Virtual Apps, Desktops Premium, DaaS Premium
- Network: NetScaler, including end-to-end observability capabilities
- Monitoring and insights: Citrix Analytics for performance and security
- Security: Secure private access and Citrix Endpoint Management
In addition, the platform license includes the newly acquired uberAgent. All available integrations with other solutions are also built-in. Citrix focuses its license on enterprises but does not communicate the terms, except that the Citrix platform is available by invitation only. Everything indicates that the largest companies in particular are being targeted.
Bundles only
Last year, Citrix completely eliminated its perpetual licenses. It was replaced by the Citrix Universal license, which already included a bundle. The license now has a variant: the Citrix Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud license. It includes the same functionality and adds NetScaler with 1,000 GB of throughput capacity and Citrix Endpoint Management. To get started, you must have at least 250 users in your organization.
Citrix only goes to the customer with the limited bundle licenses. For large companies, they actually bring more simplicity. This comes at the expense of freedom of choice: if you only want to purchase a few Citrix solutions, you pay for the entire bundle. Citrix emphasizes that Citrix Analytics, uberAgent and Citrix Secure Private Access (SPA) have no longer been available as standalone products since December last year.
