Duvel Moortgat breweries are at a standstill due to hackers using ransomware. The company recognizes the problem and reassures customers with sufficient inventory.
The Belgian breweries Duvel, La Chouffe and De Koninck were closed for a while due to a hacker attack with ransomware. The servers were disabled for security reasons and production was stopped. Duvel Moortgat says it still has a large inventory, so customers don’t have to worry about shortages.
Ransomware
Duvel Moortgat received a report last night that its servers had been hacked. For security reasons, both the servers and production were shut down. This is ransomware, i.e. malware that encrypts files and then demands a ransom for them. It is not yet clear what amount this is. The company is currently working to identify the issue. They hope to restart this week with backup systems.
