SpaceX scheduled third launch of Starship rocket for March 14

Earlier this week, SpaceX’s Super Heavy launch vehicle and Starship spacecraft underwent a full fuel test that showed the system was ready for a third test flight. Now on the SpaceX account on the X social network link appeared For the live broadcast of the launch of the giant rocket, which is planned to take place on March 14.

It should be noted that despite SpaceX’s publication, Elon Musk’s company still needs permission from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to carry out a new launch of the Starship system. Last month, it was reported that the regulator had requested 17 changes, including 7 in the design of the first stage of the ship and 10 in the design of the ship. The need to make a number of changes to the Starship’s design was confirmed during an examination of the ship and the causes of its explosion during the previous test flight.

Despite this, SpaceX has shown that Starship is ready for future flights. This week, the fully assembled 122-meter rocket underwent a refueling test, one of the last tests before launch. During the test, SpaceX experts pumped 4.5 thousand tons of liquid methane fuel and oxygen into the tanks. Since this process was uneventful, we can say that the rocket is ready for the next flight.

The previous Starship flight took place on November 18, 2023 and resulted in an explosion, and the first rocket was launched on April 20, 2023, but that launch was also interrupted due to an emergency. During these months, SpaceX has made many changes not only to the design of the carrier’s first stage, but also to the architecture of the launch pad at its base in Texas.
