According to VideoCardz, Intel plans to launch the Core i9-14900KS processor on March 14.

The Core i9-14900KS is expected to reach a clock speed of 6.2 GHz.

The Core i9-14900KS joins the series along with its predecessors, the Core i9-12900KS and Core i9-13900KS, which were released on April 5, 2022 and January 12, 2023, respectively. Unlike previous models, the i9-14900KS reportedly has a higher clock speed of up to 6.2GHz (instead of 6.0GHz) on two cores; this was previously seen in a late February leak with Lunar Lake laptop processors. The Core i9-14900KS is also expected to hit 5.9GHz on all P cores and 4.5GHz on E cores.

An important feature of the Intel Core i9-14900KS is its price, which is reported to be around $740; This is around 30% higher than the current flagship i9-14900K. Despite the higher price, the i9-14900KS promises significant performance improvements, making it an attractive option for enthusiasts and power users alike.

In terms of specifications, the i9-14900KS is based on the Raptor Lake Refresh architecture and features 8 performance cores (P) and 16 efficiency cores (E); This means 24 cores and 32 threads in total. It is equipped with 36 MB L3 cache and 32 MB L2 cache, providing enough memory for complex tasks and multitasking scenarios. Additionally, the maximum thermal power (TDP) has likely been increased to 150W for the upcoming i9-14900KS, from the i9-14900K’s 125W.

Notably, this processor will be the last processor added to Intel’s LGA-1700 platform, marking the end of an era with the last processor using the old naming convention for desktop processors. In the future, it will be replaced by the LGA-1851 socket, starting with the 15th generation Arrow Lake processors before the end of this year.
