Joe BidenUS President, asked for “advice” from Geena Davis, Morgan Freeman and Michael Douglasamong other actors who have played the role of the president in works of fiction, to prepare a State of the Union speech that he will deliver this Thursday to Congress.

That much was clear in the humorous video call the Democrat held with the performers while he finalized the details of his speech to lawmakers.

They spoke with Biden Morgan Freeman, who played the US President in Deep Impact; Michael Douglas (“The American President”), Bill Pullman (“Independence Day”), Geena Davis (“Commander in Chief”) and Tony Goldwyn (“Scandal”).

“I have never spoken to so many presidents at the same time. They know I have a big State of the Union speech to give. “Do any of you have any advice?” Biden told them with a laugh, starting the conversation.

Geena Davis: “Politics is no place to cry”

Davis recalled that when she was president in fiction, crises happened every day, and she learned that “politics is no place for crying,” and Goldwyn recommended that Biden tell people that for them, “it exists.”

Morgan Freeman: “Hope”

Freeman recommended transmitting “hope” because it is “the strongest, most useful and effective force the country has.”

“My advice is to tell us how you work for us and give us hope,” he concluded.

Michael Douglas: “love and compassion”

Douglas said that while playing the role of president, he learned that “love and compassion are a leader’s strengths, not weaknesses.”

Bill Pullman: “unity”

At the same time, Pullman emphasized that the most important thing was to call for the “unity” of the country, and joked that it was easy for him when he served as president on “Independence Day,” given that “an invasion from space makes people like that.”

Biden will deliver his State of the Union address to both houses of Congress this Thursday at 9 pm local time in Washington, which is expected to focus on the wars in Gaza and Ukraine, as well as next November’s elections. Big surprise: He’ll fight Donald Trump again. (EFE)
