Apple today released macOS Sonoma 14.4, the fourth major update to the “macOS Sonoma” operating system launched last September. ‌macOS Sonoma‌ 14.4 arrives a month after ‌macOS Sonoma‌ 14.3, an update that added shared Apple Music playlists.

The ‌‌macOS Sonoma‌‌ 14.4‌ update is available for free download on all eligible Macs via the Software Update section of System Preferences. There is also a macOS 13.6.5 version for those currently using macOS Ventura and a macOS 12.7.4 version for those installing macOS Monterey.

In ‌macOS Sonoma‌ 14.4, Apple introduces new emoji characters and adds support for reading the full transcript of a podcast episode, along with support for search. Along with new features for Business Updates in Messages, there’s also a switch in the Safari preferences bar that only shows site icons. Below are Apple’s update release notes.

This update also includes the following improvements and bug fixes:– The text of a podcast episode can be read in full, searched by word or phrase, clicked to play from a specific point, and available with accessibility features like text size, increased contrast, and VoiceOver. allows you to receive updates you specify, such as order status, flight alerts, fraud alerts, or other transactions from trusted companies – Safari’s Preferences Bar adds the option to show only icons for websites
