NVIDIA introduces Cloud G-SYNC technology

NVIDIA introduced Cloud G-SYNC technology, which aims to improve the game streaming experience of GeForce NOW users. Exclusive to Ultimate Cloud subscription-level GeForce NOW RTX 4080 SuperPOD instances, G-SYNC synchronizes the display’s refresh rate with cloud game streams, minimizing screen tearing and stuttering for a smoother gaming experience. The feature also includes Reflex technology to reduce latency in cloud gaming.

Special requirements for compatibility and use

To use Cloud G-SYNC, users must have display hardware with a refresh rate above 60 Hz and support variable refresh rate (VRR) technology such as Nvidia G-SYNC, AMD FreeSync, or Apple ProMotion. It’s worth noting that Cloud G-SYNC is only available through native GeForce NOW apps and does not include browser, mobile and TV clients.

Windows systems require a minimum NVIDIA Turing architecture graphics card requirement (GTX 16 or RTX 20 series), excluding Intel or AMD GPU support. Additionally, the macOS version of the app supports all Apple Silicon models and select Intel-based Mac models, including select MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, and Mac Pro configurations.

It is important to ensure that GeForce-equipped systems have at least the R545 driver version to support Cloud G-SYNC. However, NVIDIA explains that this feature does not support multiple monitors under Windows. Alongside the launch of Cloud G-SYNC, NVIDIA also launched GeForce NOW, a daily subscription to cloud gaming, offering Priority and Ultimate editions for $3.99 and $7.99 respectively. These passes provide 6 or 8 hours of gaming at an appropriate level for users who are temporarily away from their computers or want to explore cloud gaming options.
