Fortinet is participating in the European Commission’s Cybersecurity Skills Academy initiative. Through the Fortinet Training Institute, the company will provide free security and security awareness training to 75,000 European Union residents over the next three years. This move is in line with Fortinet’s internal ambitions, which have already set a goal in 2021 to provide security training to one million people worldwide within five years.

Lack of security talent

The committee’s initiative is a response to the growing cyber threat and the pressing shortage of security professionals in the European Union. With the collaboration, Fortinet hopes to contribute to increasing cyber resilience in the EU. Fortinet has long believed in the importance of the public and private sectors working together to address the global security talent shortage.

The Cybersecurity Skills Academy was established by the Commission in 2023. The initiative aims to reduce the cybersecurity skills shortage in the EU through collaboration between public and private parties. It offers a training, certification and financing platform to train new security professionals.
