US President Joe Bidenstated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu“harms“to my a country more than what helps him fail to prevent new civilian deaths in their attacks on the Gaza Strip.
He warned that while Israel has the right to defend itself and continue to persecute Hamas, Netanyahu “must pay more attention to the innocent lives lost as a result of the actions taken.”
Biden opined that Netanyahu is “doing more harm to Israel” than helping the country by “doing things that are contrary to what Israel stands for,” he said in an interview with Jonathan Capehart of MSNBC.
While the US president warned he would “never abandon Israel” and would continue to help it, he said there was a “red line” regarding attacks on Rafah, where more than 1.3 million Palestinians are sheltering.
The Democratic president has made it clear that he wants a ceasefire and prisoner exchanges to begin.
The Democrat hoped to achieve this before the start of Ramadan on Sunday.
Biden’s interview aired almost simultaneously as the Democrat held a rally in the key state of Georgia, where he was interrupted by an aide who criticized the White House’s position on the Gaza conflict.
Last Thursday, Biden demanded that Netanyahu stop using humanitarian aid as a bargaining chip and allow more food and medicine to be brought into the Strip.
At least 82 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 30,960 since Israel began its military offensive in the enclave.
“Several victims remain under rubble and on roads, and the occupation prevents ambulances and civil protection teams from reaching them,” Gaza’s health ministry condemned.
The number of wounded rose to 72,524 in five months after adding 122 in the last day, on top of nearly 8,000 bodies missing under the rubble. (EFE)
