Zoom is expanding the language support of its Copilot competitor AI Companion. It’s also Dutch’s turn.
The Zoom AI Companion can now summarize Dutch-language meetings. Dutch is one of the 36 languages in which the AI Companion can track meetings. These languages are recognized automatically: users no longer have to specify their main language. After a meeting, participants who use the feature receive a summary of what was said. During the meeting you can also ask the accompanying person questions.
In 2023, Zoom launched the AI Companion. The solution is integrated into the subscription of paying users and does not cost anything extra for them. The functionality goes beyond just summary meetings. For example, there is the team chat feature that allows the companion to quickly generate messages based on previous conversations, length and mood. Zoom now supports nine languages, but not Dutch yet. English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese and two variations of Chinese are deeply rooted.
Positioning itself as an all-in-one collaboration platform, Zoom aims to overcome the stigma of being “just” a video tool. The integrated AI capabilities play an important role at no additional cost. Zoom can cite the fact that Dutch is now partially available as an advantage. Nevertheless, Zoom is not as popular with us compared to Microsoft Teams. At least that’s what the preliminary results of our survey show.
