The Galaxy Book4 Edge is the first device with a new generation of chips that Qualcomm is preparing to attack the PC. It’s based on the Book4 laptops that Samsung recently launched with Intel processors, and the first data we’re getting says they’re quite expensive.
All the major PC manufacturers are participating in the new adventure to bring ARM to Windows PCs. With a hardware base on the new Qualcomm Snapdragon an alternative to the Apple Mac and also to the existing x86 offering from Intel and AMD.
This laptop appeared in the Geekbench database with a good overall score on the Apple M2 SoC. It has a high-end version with an Oryon Elite series CPU with 12 cores and a working frequency of up to 4.3 GHz. It features 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD for storage.
Mount the screen (probably a touch screen). 14 inches the diagonal and promotion of the model will affect its great autonomy and the presence of an integrated 5G modem that will allow it to work with the most advanced mobile broadband networks and thus be independent of wireless networks, which will in any case be well served with Wi-Fi 7.
WinFuture, which claims to have information from European retailers, says that the price of this Galaxy Book4 Edge will be 1800 euros. Very expensive considering that the Core Ultra version is priced similarly and that the 13.6-inch MacBook Air sells for less in Europe.
We will have to wait for official information, but we will not be able to compete at these prices. And it is still unknown the operating system and whether Microsoft will be able to solve the problem of previous Windows on ARM, in performance, support and especially in the execution of applications. Qualcomm’s hardware has a good goal of competing with Apple, but the operating system must also be measured. The Galaxy Book4 Edge is expected to be available in early summer, along with other laptops from HP, Lenovo or ASUS.
