• The largest number of users complain about long connections to the server and content updates.
• Some users are also reporting issues with the app itself.
• At least a few people complain about difficulty when trying to send messages.

It is currently unknown how serious the issue is and whether it is a symptom of a major service failure.

Will Telegram be banned in Ukraine?

Recently the Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on Freedom of Expression proposed looking at ways to ban the Telegram messenger in Ukraine. The proposal was made at the roundtable “Journalistic standards and professional ethics in wartime”, the purpose of which was to discuss the ethical challenges and pressing issues faced by journalists in wartime.

Participants in the roundtable expressed concern about the potential threat posed by the Telegram social network to national security. They emphasized the need to adopt European practices to avoid international criticism that they “hinder freedom of expression”.

Telegram, whose owner is Russian entrepreneur Pavlo Durov, who has not lived in the aggressive country for a long time, became the subject of controversy. Although the head of the Center for Defense Reforms of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine acknowledged the difficulty of banning or blocking Telegram, he emphasized the difference between reading media on Telegram and using messenger for personal communication.
