It looks like scientists are getting creative trying to understand the human brain! A team in China has developed a special chip based on how they study objects far, far away in space. This chip is designed to help them unlock the secrets of the brain in real time.

The new chip can analyze large amounts of brain data very quickly and work on it immediately

The problem is that scientists can now photograph a zebrafish’s entire brain at once, but deciphering the meaning of all that information takes too much time. It’s like a giant puzzle with no pictures in the box.

Chinese researchers noticed something interesting. When astronomers study fast bursts of radio waves coming from space, they also need to analyze a lot of data quickly. So scientists took a page from the astronomers’ textbook and developed a microcircuit with special computing power. This chip can process huge amounts of brain-related data (hundreds of movies playing at the same time, for example) and begins to understand it instantly.

Their research, published in a scientific journal, shows that the chip really works. It can track the activity of up to 100,000 brain cells of a tiny zebrafish. Scientists have even used a chip similar to the Neuralink chip to control the swimming of paralyzed zebrafish, but it wouldn’t be out of place to compare the two.

Hopefully this little chip will be a big step forward for brain research. This could help scientists understand how our brains work in real time, leading to new data and, even better, new medical treatments.
