Swedish music streaming company Spotify is releasing full-length music videos on the platform as a limited beta for premium subscribers.
This was reported by Reuters, Ukrinform reported.
It was stated that Spotify’s launch will feature “a limited catalog of music videos, including hits from global artists like Ed Sheeran or local favorites like Aluna.”
The music videos will be available to premium users in the UK, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, Philippines, Indonesia and Kenya, with the beta launching on Wednesday.
Spotify’s new plan aims to reach 1 billion users by 2030, but it faces competition from Apple Music and Alphabet-owned YouTube, which allows users to watch music videos for free.
In March last year, Spotify introduced a new “clips” tab with vertical videos of up to 30 seconds that artists could upload directly to Spotify.
As reported by Ukrinform, Spotify is expanding its audiobook offering, offering all its paid subscribers 15 hours of free listening per month.
