Leo is coming to Androidso now you can use Brave’s AI chatbot for your browser right there in your browser.

It was no coincidence that Leo, Brave’s AI assistant is one of the protagonists of the latest versions of the web browser: the function in general is an absolute trend in the technological spectrum, Brave has been working on its own solution for some time, and what is only on PC remains without the great potential of users that it could have.

After the release of Brave 1.63 a few weeks ago on the desktop, the version is now coming to the mobile segment, starting with Android. It will arrive on iOS “in the coming weeks,” according to the official statement, but we can already tell that the move has been made. What does Brave offer you, you might ask? Broadly speaking, just like Copilot in Microsoft Edge or Aria in Opera: conversational AI.

In particular, Leo can summarize articles, expand their content, create texts based on instructions, translate them, ask you anything… The same as Copilot in Microsoft Edge or Aria in Opera, worth repeating, or almost the same ; although in the case of the Microsoft service, it functions as an independent application available to each user. Leo, on the other hand, is only available in Brave.

However, Leo differs from the other alternatives in a very characteristic feature of Brave: it is respecting user privacy, something no one else can boast too much about. Be careful, because although the system analyzes – anonymously – the chats to learn, the conversations are not saved.

Leo the Brave

As a Copilot, yes, Leo has a payment method ($14.99, €16.99 per month), which extends the limits of the free version in terms of technical and consumer capabilities. More information in this link.

These limitations include the level that can be created from the three available language models: Llama 2 13b (general chat), Claude Instant (text generation and the supposedly most powerful and recently added open source LLM Mixtral Depending on the context, one or the other can be used and is can be manually switched between them, but the default is Mixtral.

Want to try out Brave’s AI? You’ll find Leo in your browser’s toolbar, although you’ll also notice it when searching, as it’s integrated into the address bar and offers autocomplete suggestions (which you can turn off if you don’t care: look in the settings). But you might be wondering that… is Leo in competition? And the answer is…

Give it time, but don’t believe it one bit about what he tells you: to test it, among other things, I asked him to recommend “an interesting article published in MuyComputer last week”… and what he got back is crazy: not only did he make up the articles, he even made up the links and when I gave it to him, so he apologized and told me to look for it myself (!).
