Asus has officially introduced the Zenfone 11 Ultra. This time not a compact flagship, but an oversized 6.8-inch device.

Asus unveiled its latest flagship smartphone this afternoon: the Zenfone 11 Ultra. With the launch of the device, Asus also puts an end to rumors that the Zenfone series would disappear. The Zenfone 11 Ultra is fundamentally different from its predecessors.

Not small anymore

The Zenfone devices have been considered compact flagships for several years. This made them an alternative to the S24 or Google Pixel. The range of small smartphones is already limited and will not get any bigger with the Zenfone Ultra 11. This year, Asus wants to show that there are also large smartphones: the latest flagship has a large 6.78-inch display. The Zenfone 11 Ultra’s design appears to be more inspired by the brand’s Rog gaming smartphones than previous Zenfone models.

Asus has installed 1080 x 2400 pixels in the large screen of the Zenfone 11 Ultra. They refresh at a maximum of 144 Hz. The refresh rate can be reduced to 1 Hz to save battery power. The battery is also very large with a capacity of 5,500 mAh.

AI smartphone

As for the processor, the choice is not surprising: a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the processor you’ll find in almost every Android flagship this year. The Zenfone 11 Ultra also qualifies for the coveted “AI smartphone” label and supports features like translations and summaries.

For us, the added value of AI in a smartphone lies primarily in improving photo quality. The Asus Zenfone is equipped with three cameras: a 50 MP main camera (f/1.9), a 13 MP wide-angle camera (f/2.2) and a 32 MP telephoto lens (f/2.4) to zoom. We’re excited to see if the telephoto lens can keep up with the stunning zoom cameras on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra or the OnePlus 12.

The Asus Zenfone 11 will be available in the Benelux in two memory configurations (12GB + 256GB and 16GB + 512GB) and four colors (black, blue, gray and brown). You pay 999 euros for the 12 GB version and 1,099 euros for the 16 GB version, prices including VAT.
