Computer security expert Roger Grimes warned that the Neuralink device, which Elon Musk’s company recently implanted into a human for the first time, could be fatal.

In an interview with the publication Sun Grimes explained how brain chips can be hacked and what a cybercriminal should do. First of all, hackers need to know which computer operating system the Neuralink brain chip uses. It’s probably not common or popular software, so it’s not that vulnerable to hackers.

Second, the attacker needs physical proximity to the interface where the chip resides. But today, details about the identity of the first person to receive a brain-computer interface (BCI) and his whereabouts remain secret.

Third, a hacker would need specific knowledge of how the chip works and how to manage its operations without causing operational problems. Hacking the chip is even easier if it connects to the Internet.

Despite the difficulty of the task, the expert in preventing hacking and malicious attacks noted that many medical devices have been hacked in the past, so the same fate could befall Neuralink chips.
