One of the many notable features of Minecraft is that if the game design suits your preferences, you can spend a lot, a lot of time with each game. In my case, I think I’ve said this on another occasion, I have some games that I’ve been maintaining for quite a few years, like one that I started on mobile in 2012 that I later migrated to PC, and another one, this one on PC since its origin, which I started in Minecraft 1.8 in 2014.
Granted, I don’t play them every day or even every week, any of them (the two I mentioned and a few others) I go back to when I think of something I want to do in them, or just when I get a stroke of nostalgia . It makes me want to take it back. And the truth is, I can’t think of many other games in which that it is possible to maintain the same game for more than 10 yearsand that there are still so many things to be done in all of them.
I know I’m not the only one, I know there are many players who, whether for a specific purpose (eg reaching the farthest areas of the map), for the love of the game… in short, there are many of us who value this option very positively. And this is the reason why An issue was detected when updating Minecraft Bedrock from the Xbox app for PC It seems to me that for many, this may be the worst thing that could happen to them in relation to this game.
Do not update Minecraft through the Xbox app on PC. If you do, your worlds may be lost. We recommend running the Gaming Services Repair Tool for PC before installing the Minecraft update. Learn more here: https://t.co/9X1am8dzHG

This was announced by Microsoft itself through a statement Updating Minecraft Bedrock from Xbox may result in the loss of all save games. The first recommendation they give, which is a healthy one, is that users do not update the game from the Xbox app, and they also recommend that the PC game services repair tool present in the app be used.
At least for now, there doesn’t seem to be a solution to allow affected users to restore their games saves that were removed by the update, but those who don’t have version 1.20.70 or 1.20.71 of Minecraft Bedrock are also advised that many of the game’s main online services, such as cross-platform multiplayer, Realms, and recommended servers, will not be available. However, this problem does not affect the Java version, so they will not have to worry.
