Researchers from the University of Guelph (Canada) have developed a smart robot that can pick tomatoes combined with artificial intelligence.

As reported by Ukrinform, CTV News.

“Our mission is to make all of this competitive with human labor. It takes six seconds for one person to harvest. We have a system that successfully harvests these beefsteak tomatoes, but it does it in 18 seconds. So the next step (this time) is to minimize it, let’s say to eight seconds.” ” said Professor Medhat Moussa.

The robot can also analyze the health of each plant and transfer this information to a database to optimize agricultural operations.

The researchers also identified new targets for the technology, which is currently being tested in Ontario. In particular, “teach” the robot to pick peppers and strawberries.

It is generally stated that this technology has been developed at the University of Guelph for more than a decade.
