Mexican government donated human skin to the Dominican Republic to treat people who suffered serious burns when fireworks exploded last Sunday at the Salcedo Carnival parade, the Health Ministry said.

Due to the detonation of fireworks, 18 people suffered serious burns on Sunday at the closing of the Salcedo carnival, 11 of them were minors, two of whom died this Thursday.

Management was carried out through the Ministry of Health in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX), the National Health Service (NHS), the National Institute for the Coordination of Transplantation (INCORT) and Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Mexico.

Coordination was carried out with the Ministry of Health and Federal Commission for Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris) and the Mexican Authorization Commission.

The fabrics were transferred last Friday on an Aeroméxico plane, protected by the Minister-Councillor of Health of the Dominican Republic, Orlando Rodriguez.
