Amazon, Microsoft and Google companies will close access to cloud services for users in Russia.
This was announced by Softline, Microsoft’s distributor in the Russian Federation, Ukrinform reported.
“On behalf of the Softline Group, we confirm the receipt of official information from Microsoft and Amazon regarding the suspension of access to cloud products on the territory of Russia from March 20, 2024. In this context, the Softline Group warns about possible functional limitations in the operation of Microsoft, Amazon and Google cloud products and services .” writes the message.
According to letters from rights holders, access to cloud-based products such as (but not limited to) Power BI, Dynamics CRM and others will be terminated starting from this date.
“We expect the suspension to also impact cloud solutions that include these products,” Softline added.
These restrictions on Russia are defined in the European Union’s 12th sanctions package, dated December 19, 2023, which restricts the supply of business intelligence (BI) software, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and other products to Russia.
For Russian companies, this means that from March 20 it will be impossible to use these products or access the data they contain.
As Ukrinform reported, last year the American company Google began blocking Google Workspace corporate services (corporate mail, documents, etc.) of a number of Russian companies that fell under US sanctions.
