Fortunately, Telegram allows you to do this with built-in features without resorting to third-party programs. We will only need two simple application options.

We master folders

Users of free accounts can create up to 10 folders. This is completely enough to separate your chats and channels into main categories.

  • Go to Settings and select the “Chat Packages” menu.
  • Click “Create new folder”.
  • Enter your name.
  • In the “Active chats” column, click “Add chat” and select the chats you want.
  • save

You will now see a new tab at the top of the page. You can go to it by the usual click or choose the horizontal scroll (flip) method. To do this, go to Settings, select “Chat settings” and find “Action when scrolling through list” located under the program icon selection menu. Select “Move between folders” from various options.

As mentioned before, You can create up to 10 different folders. For example, a separate folder for business chats. Another one for news channels. The following are for entertainment, best friends, thematic channels on a particular topic. The app also allows you to add a folder for bots and chats with new messages.

You can then add chats to folders. This is done through the same “Chat packages” menu or on the screen of all dialogues. To do this, press your finger on the desired chat, select the menu button (three dots) and select “Add to folder”.

This way you can sort all your chats and channels into folders. So what to do with them?

Archive

One option may be archiving. If we read conversations with people mostly immediately or when we have time, because we can postpone the channels for later, we accumulate messages in them. This causes these channels to constantly increase and we lose our dialogue with our interlocutors.

For convenience, you can choose the following action plan:

  • Add your channels to the appropriate folders.
  • Go back to the All Chats screen and archive all these channels by pinching them with your fingers and selecting the archive button (box button with down arrow in the top panel).
  • After archiving, the channels will remain in folders, but you will not be bored with the screen of all chats. This way there will only be dialogues with people, group chats, and probably dialogues with the channels that are most important to you.
  • Note that Telegram returns channels and chats from the archive whenever a new message appears there. Therefore, turn off notifications for these channels so that they do not appear in the public list again. To set this option, go to the archive (swipe from top to bottom as if refreshing the page), then click on the menu (three dots at the top). Select “Archive settings” and then set the archive behavior that is more convenient for you. For example, if you already have a different configuration, you can have chats and channels always remain archived even though notifications are enabled.

A few more useful folder functions

  • In folders and on the home page, you can pin your favorite channels and chats so that they are always in the first positions, regardless of the presence of new messages.
  • You can quickly organize a folder by pressing my finger on the home screen. Yes, you can edit or rename folders, add or remove channels, turn off notifications for all chats/channels in a folder at once, mark them all as read, and delete them.
  • Another useful feature is the ability to share a folder with another person. To do this, select the “Share” option and copy the link.
