In 2023, the 7 millionth Belgian will register on Itsme. With more than 1 million actions per day, the app is also being used more and more frequently.

An average of 1 million identity actions take place every day with Itsme, where citizens identify themselves online and confirm transactions. The total number of promotions in 2023 reached almost 370 million, a growth of 17 percent compared to 2022. The company reports this in its annual figures for 2023.

The biggest growth is with Itsme Sign, the service that allows you to digitally sign documents. In 2023, Belgians placed a qualified electronic signature (QES) on Itsme 1.5 million times. This signature has the same legal force as a paper signature. This is a growth of 50 percent compared to 2022. Nowadays, according to Itsme, e-signature is often used in HR, accountants and notaries.

The company made a profit of 1.6 million euros in 2023. The number of partners in the private sector continues to grow. Today, according to the brand, there are already more than 1,000. Itsme has been around for 6.5 years today.

The 7 million user mark has now been reached: in November 2023, the 7 millionth Belgian installed the Itsme app on his smartphone. More than 80% of the active adult Belgian population aged 16 and over now has an Itsme account. There are still 30,000 to 40,000 new users added every month. They come not only from Belgium, but also from abroad. The app already supports 10 nationalities and plans to expand even further in Europe in the coming year. This is particularly useful for expats and Belgian companies operating in Europe.

Itsme also wants to participate in the design of the digital portfolio this year. These personal “data vaults” allow citizens to grant permission to digitally share things like diplomas, health records, and the like. To this end, it works with Athumi, the Flemish government’s data utility. Doccle will also play an important role in organizing these data streams.
