The Lenovo ThinkPad L series gets an upgrade to Intel Core Ultra and new Ryzen Pro chips. The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 is also being updated.

New Intel chips, new laptops from all manufacturers? It’s been raining AI PCs everywhere since the start of 2024 and the ThinkPad L series shouldn’t be left behind. Thanks to the integration of Intel Core Ultra, the laptops are also WiFi 7 compatible and you can use the integrated NPU to accelerate around 100 AI tasks in some applications. And yes, every laptop has a Copilot key on the keyboard.

The Lenovo ThinkPad L models are available in three screen sizes (16:10 ratio). Both the 14- and 16-inch models are available in the Intel Core Ultra or AMD Ryzen Pro 7030 series. The smallest model, the 13-inch variant, is only available from Intel and you can choose between a standard laptop or a 2-in-1 model with a 360-degree hinge.

After the ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 and T16 Gen 3, the new ThinkPad L models were also certified by iFixit with a recovery score of 9 out of 10. Lenovo emphasizes that users can easily repair the devices themselves and official parts such as RAM, keyboard, SSD and WWAN are available.

Nice extra: The new Lenovo ThinkPad L devices have an additional cutout on some important keys as an orientation for blind or visually impaired people. For example, you can now tactilely touch the volume buttons or the Enter key.

Lenovo also announced the ThinkPad X13 series with Intel Core Ultra on board.

Price and availability

All devices will be available from Q2 2024. Both the Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 5 and the L16 Gen 5 start at 1,099 euros with Intel Core Ultra on board. The AMD versions of both systems cost 80 euros less.

The Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Gen 5 and L13 2-in-1 Gen 5 will be available starting at 1,069 euros and 1,199 euros, respectively. The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 5 and X13 2-in-1 Gen 5 will soon be available for 1,399 euros and 1,649 euros, respectively.
