Nvidia introduces APIs for Omniverse Cloud to advance industrial digital twin software development.

At its annual GTC trade show, Nvidia announced that it would make Omniverse Cloud available as APIs. This makes the platform for building industrial digital twin applications and workflows more accessible to software developers. This step simplifies the integration of Omniverse technologies into existing digital twin design and automation applications and simulation workflows.

The five new Omniverse Cloud APIs enable developers to directly integrate core Omniverse functionality into their software applications. This includes generating ray tracing renders, modifying and interacting with data, running scene queries, and tracking data updates.

Several leading industrial software companies have already joined the initiative to launch Omniverse Cloud APIs, including Ansys, Cadence, Dassault Systèmes for its 3DEXCITE brand, Hexagon, Microsoft, Rockwell Automation, Siemens and Trimble.

Interactive visualization and collaboration in industrial applications

Siemens is integrating the Omniverse Cloud APIs into its Siemens Xcelerator platform, starting with Teamcenter, enabling Siemens customers to leverage generative AI for more immersive physical digital twins.

Ansys leverages Omniverse Cloud APIs to enable data interoperability and RTX visualization in solutions such as Ansys AVxcelerate for autonomous vehicles and Ansys Perceive EM for 6G simulation.

Cadence integrates Omniverse Cloud APIs into its Cadence Reality Digital Twin Platform, enabling companies to digitally design, simulate and optimize data centers before physical construction.

Dassault Systèmes, Trimble, Hexagon and Rockwell Automation are other examples of companies that will use the new APIs to add advanced simulation and visualization capabilities to their offerings.

The APIs will initially be available on Microsoft Azure and will be made available to developers for use on self-hosted and Nvidia systems later this year.

For enthusiasts, Nvidia is also launching a version of Omniverse Cloud for Apple Vision Pro. The streaming application is now available.
