Samsung has introduced a number of artificial intelligence features in the Galaxy S24 series as part of the Galaxy AI umbrella. These features will also be included in the One UI 6.1 update for Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 FE, Fold 5, Flip 5 and Tab S9 series owners.

However, rumors have emerged that Samsung’s 2022 flagship Galaxy S22 series will not receive this artificial intelligence update. However, the latest statements from Samsung executives show that there is still hope for the S22 family.

Samsung’s mobile division president TM Roh said during the shareholders’ general meeting that the company is actively exploring ways to use Galaxy AI on older devices.

The problem is that some Galaxy AI features rely on cloud processing, while others rely on on-device processing. And the Galaxy S22 series may lack the hardware capabilities needed to support these AI features.

However, although it uses the same chipset as the S22, the S23 FE is expected to receive Galaxy AI features with the One Ui 6.1 update. So, although Ro didn’t go into detail, the chipset shouldn’t be an issue for the Galaxy S22 series. Still, Roh emphasized that overcoming these limitations would require “a lot of effort” but that Samsung was committed to investing resources to make it happen.

It is not yet known whether the Galaxy S22 series will receive these artificial intelligence features. But it’s certainly encouraging to learn that Samsung hasn’t given up hope completely. In another interesting development, TM Roh also confirmed that Samsung is working on innovative folding and carrying devices.

Roh’s statements indicate that Samsung is evaluating the commercial viability of such form factors and is working to obtain the necessary patents to develop them.
