Google is introducing some new security features in ChromeOS that make it easier for companies to implement Zero Trust security.
Google announced in a blog its new security features for ChromeOS, making it easier for companies to implement a zero trust security infrastructure. This protection provides protection against advanced attacks, but is not easy to implement. The new features simplify this process and include secure on-premises data recovery, Okta integration, Endpoint Protection, Data Loss Prevention, BeyondCorp Enterprise and a metrics app.
New security features
According to a report from Atredis Partners, ChromeOS is the most secure desktop computing platform in its default configuration. With the introduction of the new security features for ChromeOS, it becomes easier for companies to implement Zero Trust.

New security features include:
Secure local data recovery: Users must have access to their account and device to restore local data. Every restore attempt is logged in compliance with data protection regulations, so that unauthorized access attempts are quickly identified.
Deep integration with Okta: ChromeOS now offers deep integration with identity provider Okta. Allows administrators to set device insurance policies in Okta and grant authorized users access to applications.
Endpoint security is integrated into every layer of the operating system and includes features such as authenticated boot, read-only OS and automatic updates to ensure proactive protection.
Data Loss Prevention (DLP): ChromeOS expands DLP capabilities for users, data sources, and destinations and adds DLP for files.
BeyondCorp Enterprise: This zero trust solution from Google Cloud gives companies secure access to apps and services. This has now been expanded to protect local files in ChromeOS.
Splunk app for ChromeOS: This gives you insight into device usage and potential threats. This gives security teams a clear overview of threat detection, analysis and proactive risk management.
