During the last Zen 4 event, AMD took the opportunity to introduce the new chipsets they will use AM5 motherboardsand also offered more details about the Ryzen 7000 processors. The AM5 socket represents an important change, of course, by AMD, as it means abandoning the PGA system in favor of the LGA system, goodbye to the classic pins we saw until the Ryzen 5000. grid contact fields.

Motherboards with an AM5 socket will also use DDR5 memory and will be supported by new ones 600 Series Chipsets. As we told you at the time, AMD plans to offer a total of four different chipsets:

• X670 Extreme chipsetwhich will offer further integration of the PCIe Gen5 standard and will be ready for extreme overclocking.
• X670 chipsetwhich allows the use of PCIe Gen5 in both the PCIe x16 slot and storage, and offers improved overclocking capabilities.
• Chip set B650– With more basic overclocking support and PCIe Gen5 storage limited.
• Chipset A620: no overclocking support and we assume that neither PCIe Gen5.

Obviously, the most expensive will be AM5 motherboards with X670E and X670 chipsets. Models equipped with the B650 chipset should be cheapand those that integrate the A620 chipset should be low-priced and priced accordingly, although we have not yet had any reference that would allow us to place these chipsets in a specific price range, which has changed due to an interesting reputation.

AM5 motherboards will have a starting price of less than 100 euros

At least in the cheaper models, which, as you already imagined, will be equipped with the AMD A620 chipset. These motherboards could be an interesting option build powerful but affordable computers as happened at the time with the A520 motherboards, although we would have to give up overclocking and PCIe Gen5.

In the attached picture you can see that this rumor states a new chipset, which AMD did not officially confirm, B650Eand also says it collects prices It can rise between $ 20 and $ 30 if it is integrated to support the new USB 4 standard. This is an important detail, as it can mean a price increase on the cheapest models that not everyone would be willing to face.

I checked the prices provided by this rumor and I compared them with prices equivalent to previous generations, and the truth is, I think they make a lot of sense with a little tweaking. Here is the estimate adapted to the Spanish market with possible prices in euros:

• AM5 motherboards with A620 chipset will start at between 60 and 70 euros.
• Models with the B650 chipset will have a starting price just over 100 eurosand we will probably see very cheap variants even under this number, as happened to the AM4 motherboards with the B550 chipset.
• The AM5 motherboards with the B650E chipset could be a premium version of the above, but there’s no point in thinking that they’ll beat the X670 with their starting price. I bow, even if they have a basic price approx. 150 euros.
• In the case of AM5 motherboards with the X670 chipset, their starting price should be between 200 and 250 euros.
• Finally, we have AM5 motherboards with the X670E chipset, which will have a starting price between 300 and 350 euros.

Please note that we are talking about starting pricesand that, of course, better motherboards with better finishes, better features and premium design will be much more expensive.
