The Supreme Court of Spain decided to suspend the Telegram messaging application in the country.
This was reported by Reuters, citing a source at the court, Ukrinform reported.
As noted, four media companies complained that the platform allowed users to download content without permission.
Judge Santiago Pedras decided to block Telegram in Spain pending the investigation. The implementation of this decision is entrusted to mobile operators.
According to the publication, access to Telegram services in Spain will be suspended from March 25.
Telegram is the fourth most popular messaging service in Spain, used by almost 19% of Spaniards, according to anti-monopoly organization CNMC.
The company claims to have more than 700 million monthly active users worldwide by 2023.
According to Ukrinform, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Expression, Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, said that the Verkhovna Rada should pass a special law on disinformation to regulate the activities of anonymous Telegram channels in Ukraine.
