Epic Games launches its store for iOS and Android

Following a European Union mandate requiring Apple to allow alternative stores in Europe, rumors of a mobile Epic Games Store began to circulate. Now these claims have finally been confirmed. According to the statement of the company’s CEO Steve Ellison, the Epic Games Store application will be available for both iOS and Android by the end of 2024.

We currently have no information on what the app will look like, but this is a big change for iOS users who want to take advantage of Epic Games’ discounts and free game offers on the go. Although Epic Games has been a vocal critic of Apple and Google’s app store commissions, the company will receive a 12% commission on sales made from its own mobile store.

The decision sparked some criticism, despite being below industry standard. However, it is important to remember that Epic Games offers developers additional benefits beyond the showcase, such as the widely used and free Unreal Engine.
