Xiaomi president Lei Jun said that for reference tests, Xiaomi produced 576 prototypes of the Xiaomi SU7 electric car, and each one cost 2 million yuan, or about $300,000. The production car will of course be cheaper, but its price will only be announced on March 28.

According to Lei Zun, prototypes of Xiaomi SU7 have already traveled 5.4 million kilometers. The cars were tested in 300 cities of the Celestial Empire at temperatures from -40° C to 60° C, the car even climbed the Kunlun mountain system extending from the Pamirs (the maximum height of the high-altitude test was 4768 m) to the Sino-Tibetan Mountains.

It is interesting that Xiaomi’s top executives traveled 100,000 km by car, while Lei Jun traveled 3,000 km. He made the longest solo journey on January 5: Xiaomi’s president drove 1,276 km from Beijing to Shanghai. I had to charge it twice along the way, the whole journey took 15 hours and the speed exceeded 100 km/h for most of the way.
