However, there are reasons why there will be users who decide to stop using it, especially if among their contacts with whom they have communicated so far through this service, they decide to switch to another (here you will find some very interesting ones) . In that case, if you decided to switch to another service before the blocking takes effect, but you don’t want to lose your entire conversation history, We will explain in a simple way how you can create a telegram backup.

There are, of course, two assumptions, and one of them is particularly pressing. It’s the first one you need to use the Telegram app for Windows, that is, this process is done on a computer, not on a smartphone, tablet, etc. And the second is that if you do not already have it installed and working, to verify the installation and possibly gain access to your account from it (if you previously have not set a password), you will need to use the verification code you receive. .. effectively through Telegram, so you have to have access to the service, which will no longer be possible when the blocking takes effect (unless, as I mentioned earlier, you use one of the methods we explained to you yesterday ).

Install Telegram on Windows

As we mentioned earlier, you need to use the Telegram app for Windows. You can download it from this link (where You can choose between an installable version or, if you prefer, a portable version which you can save on a USB stick for use from any PC). After downloading, install by following the steps shown by the wizard. Once the process is complete, double-click the application icon to display the configuration wizard

If you don’t prefer the language of Shakespeare, because everything is respectable in Villa del Señor, click “Continue in Spanish” now, then press the “Start Chat” button. At that moment, a QR code will appear, which you will need to scan from the Telegram application on your smartphone

To do this, you need to enter the settings section of the application. If you’re using it on Android, click on the menu icon (three horizontal lines) at the top-left corner of its interface, while if you’re on iOS, you’ll find access to it at the bottom-right corner with the Gear icon.

In both cases, although the interface design is different in each operating system, choose “Devices” and in the section that appears, click “Connect a device.” At this point, an operating system message may appear asking if you want to grant the app permission to access the camera. Obviously, in this case you need to confirm it in order to scan the QR, which is exactly what you will need to do later.

Additionally, if you previously set a password, you will need to enter it in Windows

Otherwise, you will receive a message on your device asking you to verify access to your account from a Windows application. This way you will already have the Telegram app installed on your PC.

Telegram backup

Ok, now you have installed the app, but remember that the goal of this tutorial is to backup Telegram, so we still have some work to do.

To do this, you need to access the settings again, but now of course from Windows. To do this, click on the menu icon (three horizontal lines) and actually click on settings. Next, click on “Advanced” and in the menu that appears, scroll down until you find “Export Telegram data”.

The app’s data export feature is really comprehensive, so you’ll be able to greatly customize what you want to save in your Telegram backup. Two recommendations in this regard: the first is to look closely at all the available options and find a balance between what you don’t want to lose and what you don’t need and will only serve to take up space. And the second is that if your intention is not to import data from another application, select “Mass Readable HTML” in the “Location and Format” section. Optionally, you can also edit the folder in which the telegram backup will be saved.

When everything is adjusted to your liking, now click “Export”. At that point, you will see a message saying that for security reasons, you must confirm the request from the device you have the app installed on and repeat the process within 24 hours for the download to take place.

In it, as you may have already deduced, you need to select “Enable.”

Do you really have to wait 24 hours for a download? No, actually the download will be available at that moment, but this is not well explained in the dialog shown in Telegram for Windows, but it is better explained in the dialog you receive in the app. It says that downloads will only be possible after a 24-hour wait, unless pre-verified, as a security measure.

To check this, repeat the export operation again and after clicking “Export” you will see the download start immediately. Obviously, this will take more or less time depending on the total amount of data to be downloaded, but when it’s done, you’ll see a message confirming that the Telegram backup has been completed successfully, with a button that allows you to access the backup

Open it and you’ll see an HTML file named “export_results” in addition to a few folders. Open it with a web browser and this way you will see the interface added by the export system so that you can conveniently browse all the content you have stored in your telegram backup

As you can see, the process is really simple and will only take you a few minutes (the total time will depend on the total size of what you will be storing). Of course, keep in mind that all indications are that tomorrow, Monday the 25th, the operators will apply the blockade imposed by the National Court, so it would be best if you did it today.
